We aim to educate, encourage, and advocate excellent oral health for all of our patients here at Oasis Dental in Calgary, AB, no matter how tall or small. Children’s teeth often need a bit of a helping hand.

Often times children aren’t the most meticulous at brushing and flossing their teeth. As a result, they often get cavities on their teeth, particularly in the pits and fissures of the adult teeth as they erupt.

To reduce this risk, we often recommend sealants. Sealants are essentially made up of a special, very light, white filling material that flows into the pits and fissures of teeth and prevents bacteria from getting into these areas.

This works especially well on kids teeth, but it also is effective on adult teeth. The sealant material we use at Oasis Dental also slowly releases fluoride. In conjunction with a good, regular oral hygiene routine, and in some cases additional applications of other medicaments, such as silver diamine fluoride, we can sometimes reverse small cavities without needing to place a filling at all. This is particularly effective with children’s teeth, but also very effective on adults who are quite scared of being in the dental office.
